Sunrise Cyclery was founded in 1955 by Dominick. Some 60 PLUS years later, Sunrise Cyclery is still family owned and operated by Dominick’s son Frank. Now with two locations on Long Island, New York, we have grown to be one of the country's leading bicycle stores. Sunrise Cyclery, located in Massapequa Park, is there for your mountain, road and family needs. Sunrise Cyclery has received the prestigious VeloBusiness Top 100 award, being ranked one of the Top 100 Bicycle Stores in North America, voted by the top bicycle and accessory manufacturers. To make this cut Sunrise Cyclery was selected from the 6000-plus bike shops in North America and had to excel in four areas: Store Appearance; Community outreach; Business soundness; and Market share. We thank our many loyal customers for helping us continue to grow and be a leader in the bicycle industry. Our second location Sunrise Tri in West Babylon, is home to Long Island's first Triathlon specific store. Sunrise Tri was just voted once again by Slowtwitch as one of the Top 50 Tri Stores in the US for 2015. Sunrise Tri is focused on expert bicycle fittings, carrying the finest bicycles and all the equipment necessary for your training and racing needs.
A Better Bike from Sunrise Cyclery
Sunrise Cyclery realizes that for total satisfaction from your new bicycle we must first help you select the proper bike for your riding needs. Today, because there are so many choices; Road, touring, tri-bikes, hardtail mountain, full suspension, all-terrain, cross-bikes, comfort bikes, cruisers, BMX, freestyle, electric, folding, triwheelers and more, selecting the proper bike can be confusing without experienced help.
The next step is correct sizing. Sizing you properly is as important as picking out the proper bicycle, for today most bikes come in at least seven different frame sizes. Beyond that if we have to change a handlebar to one with a different rise, change a seat to a wider or softer one or change the stem length we will customize any bike for a perfect fit.
Our staff is truly dedicated to help you make the right choices. Next the bicycle must be properly assembled. Many of the bikes today appear to come mostly assembled right out of the box. Most stores spend a half hour or less assembling a bike. On the other hand, our mechanics spend approximately two full hours on the assembly of each bike. They are trained to remove and lubricate all bolts and nuts, remove and cut all cables to the correct length (different frame sizes require different length cables) and remove the wheels from the bike and true them on a truing stand. Bicycles have changed over the 50 years that we have been in business but the proper way to assemble them has not.
There is no such thing as a short-cut at Sunrise Cyclery. Our clean, state of the art work shop is in open view so you may see your bike being assembled or serviced. After your purchase our service does not end. All bikes are given one-year free service, to adjust the brakes, gears, headset, crank and wheel bearings, air and lubricate. We feel that this is such an important service we will send you a letter reminding you to bring it in for this free service.
Please note that that bicycles, tricycles, scooters and pedal cars that are shipped (not picked-up at our New York store) require assembly. They are shipped in their factory sealed cartons.
